I will say the same stuff to you that I did to a buddy of mine (who just happens to own a neat 72 240Z himself!)
Start with the less glamorous parts first before going nuts with "sport" suspension parts.
Diff mount, tie rods, control arms, ball joints, trans mount, motor mounts, shift linkage....
They're ugly black rubber parts - but when replaced make a WORLD of difference.
If after these are replaced /or/ found healthy - THEN think about firmer shocks and other "cool" performance parts. Don't be fooled by the marketing!
It stinks to spend a bunch of money on boring stock parts - but you'll be amazed at the difference.
BTW: I've been chasing my buddy's Z car for months now - I think I *might* have him, next time we go out driving - we'll see if the ole' 02 can catch up now!
Feel free to contact me for pricing on the suspension parts - they're surprisingly cheap and simple to install.
All the Best!
