Obscure rear subframe mount question (archive)

I ordered up new rear subframe mounts from my local dealer (which as an 02-friendly parts guy). He found couple different P/Ns and ordered them all so I could compare and choose which parts I wanted. According to the MT parts listing, the mounts for my 74 are interchangable L to R, and the rubber is oriented parallel to the horizontal axis of the car. The 75-76 parts are the same except that the rubber is turned, with either side roughly paralleling the angle of the subframe, maybe 20 degrees different from the horitontal.

The parts on the car are the latter type. I have no real idea what the performance difference is, if any. Any insight into this would be appreciated.
