Actually, it's more like 900-1000 for carb'd cars, 800-900 for tii's. 300 rpm is way too low, check your car for timing problems and intake leaks, loose hoses, etc., then when all is well turn up the idle. Good luck!

: Just wondering what the proper idle speed is for a stock '02 with a stock Solex carb? My car was idling at a lopey, slow ~300 rpm and didn't sound comfortable. I ran it up a bit to about 900-1000 rpm and it seems much more content there. Is it too high?
