Well, I am going to have to pull off one hub anyway to replace the drum backing plate. Havn't heard anything good about this job. Maybe I'll just hang onto the bearings and seals untill I get a lot of time on my hands - or have to.
Looks like I just found an entire free day this weekend.

: Hi Just two weeks ago I had my 02 at the shop to look it over and asked him to check and pack the bearings. He said that it is not routinely done as they last forever and will let you know if there is a problem and then you just replace them. This is due to the unbelievable hassle probably. You have to pull the hub and pound out the stub shaft then pull or pound out the old bearings etc, etc, etc.

: A friend had one go bad on his 02 and it finally let him down to be towed home. Happened about 3 weeks ago which prompted me to take my car in for a check up and a clean bill of health.

: Bottom line is that if you are not hearing any noise out of them then they are probably best left alone. I would not do this for recreation.

: Just my thoughts.

: Mike
