Difficult to replace a clutch? (archive)

Posted by Moecat on April 28, 2000 at 09:06:10:

Is this something I should try tackling myself? I got a quote from a mechanic of $1000 for this repair including parts. (@ $70/hour labor rate)

I have a lot of tools and time, but replacing a clutch along with the output seal/shift-rod seal would be the biggest job I've tackled so far.

Anyboby out there with first time experience doing a clutch replacement care to comment?

TIA

Moe (Atlanta)
