: There's an article in today's Sacramento Bee about the current smog program not living up to its projected clean air standards. They go on to talk about the 30 year moving exemption and possibly rethinking its current plan. Right now, in 2004, 1974 vehicles will become smog exempt and the vehicle year would move up each year from that point on. For more on this check out www.sacbee.com.

FYI-Currently, it is only 73 and earlier vehicles that are smog exempt in CA, SB1175 which if passed will make 30 year and older vehicles exempt has not passed yet. Click on: http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/smogweb/smog/doineed.asp for more info.
