Tim, I wondered my self, then did some math. i will use your example of 75 mph at 4000 rpm.

3.91 rear end with 4 speed; 3.91/3.64 X 4000rpm = 4300 rpm @ 75 mph

3.91 and 5 speed; 4300 rpm X 0.81(final drive ratio of 5 speed) = 3480 rpm @ 75 mph

3.64 rear end with 5 speed; 4000 rpm X 0.81 = 3240 rpm.

I just did the same swap as you in an auto 02. I like the 3.91 rear end as I live in the mountains. However I think it will be ok on the Fwy ( except that I would max out at 80 mph with 5000 rpm with the auto box) I may change out back to a 3.64 for the fwy or the 3.45.

Hmmm, 3.45 with 5 speed; 3.45/3.64 X 0.81 x 4000 rpm = 3070 rpm

Best of luck. Peter
