I swore up and down that my 74 had no timing mark on the crank pully. One day I set the engine at TDC from the dizzy and cleaned the area on the pully that the finger pointed to and lo and behold, behind the rust and road goo, a slight indentation in the pully. It's there, just aim and clean and it will appear.
