It sounds like you have over compensated for a mis adjusted choke. I would check your choke setting (when it is cold) and make sure that it is closing. When in choke mode, the fast idle must be set as well. When the choke is off(and the engine is warm), adjust your mixture and idle.The Haynes Weber book explains the procedure very well, if you are in need.
