: I've never bought shocks or springs before so I'm kind of clueless on what to expect to spend. Also any recomendations on the best brands, not the most expensive, but the best value?

It all depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you are looking at a race level-you can use H & R springs with Bilstein shocks. The springs go for $150-230 for all 4. The shocks go for around $75-110 for a pair. There are 2 kinds of Bilsteins- one is for lowered cars, ( sport ) the other is for normal. Boge and K&L also make shocks at a lower cost. The Boge are normal and K&L's are a little stiffer. You also have to look at your strut mounts at the top of the struts. If you use a stiffer shock, the mount may ware out faster. Most of the higher end springs - H&R or Ebauch will lower your car 3/4" - 11/4. Normal springs - ala BMW stock are less $, but just do the job and do not add any extra cornering ability. You will find that Bilstein shocks will probly be the most expensive, but they have a life time guarentee,as do the K&Ls. Good luck
