Best way to disconnect steering links? (archive)

The center link on my recently purchased '76 02 is bent and i am pretty sure that it is contributing to all the steering wheel vibration when i brake. What is the best method to disconnect it from the other pieces of linkage without damaging something else? I tried a ball joint separator, but don't have enough leverage for it to work well. Hammering it will damage the threads, so what to do. I was planning on replacing it with a used center link i have lying around that is straight; is that good enough?

TIA
Xavier
