What the Haynes manual is descibing is basically what I call the US '75 (and California '76) version of the '02. The US '76 (ie. everything that wasn't sold in California) was different because they didn't have the thermal reactor.

As for a good service manual, the Haynes isn't too bad. A copy of the factory service manual can be purchased from Bimmer Parts (www.bimmerpartsco.com) for about $90. For an accurate electrical diagram, contact Bob Murphy at the Tii registry. He has recently received permission from the factory to sell copies of the factory wiring diagrams for the '74 thru '76. Those particular electrical diagrams were never included in the factory service manuals. You can find Bob's e-mail address on the '02 section of www.justbmws.com.
