I'm bias when it comes to a tii, I own one. The fuel injection system, IMHO is as reliable as the carburated 02. If that car is having problems, it could be a matter of adjustement. A lot of people try to work on these cars without the knowledge or the right tools. I have owned both, but I take the tii hands down over the 02. $6k is kind of high for the tii. I purchased mine (a 74) about three years ago with 111k on the clock. A california car with no rust, original paint, all orininal interior in mint condition (except the driver's seat) for $4800. I would take the tii to a mechanic and have it check. Then depending on the verdit, work with the price. Good luck! : I am deciding on two cars and have done my best to look through the posts here and the archives, but I'm having a hard time making a decision.

: The 76 is a 8 year old restoration with no meaningful rust and 147K miles (80K at time of rebuild) -- just had head reworked and $1.1K service to motor (valve job and a few other things). Owner has been using car daily and swears by it. Car is clean and straight and looks pretty good and well maintained. Has sunroof and AC. Owner wants $5K and claims car "is reliable enough to drive anywhere.

: The 74 tii is as clean and presentable as the 76, but the fuel injection system has been a real problem for this car. The car has 79K miles. Owner has swapped to Recarros and done a few things like that. There is also minimal evidence of rust here, too, but the car is in terrific shape from what I can tell by poking all the trouble areas. Owner wants $6K.

: Now I know the drill on the tii being "more valuable" and I know the differences between the two, but does anyone have thoughts on this dilema? I've never had a 2002, so I am unfamiliar with the maintenance and so on. My daily car is a 99 Audi A4 and the 2002 is just something I want because I've always liked them. I want the car to be a pleasure rather than an expensive headache. For this reason, I am leaning toward the 76, but secretly want the tii.

: Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
