The difference between steel wheels and alloys is entirely cosmetic. Ride properties are based on the ratio of unsprung weight to sprung weight. On most street sedans the ratio is more than adequate because the sprung weight is so high.On a light weight formula car it would be an entirely different matter. Ever wonder why NASCAR still runs steel wheels?
