Thanks, Rob and Craig! Noises always scare me, so I took a closer look today. I had no play when I tweeked the rear wheel, so I took it off, pulled the drum, and found that the brake cable had (somehow) come unhooked. The hub was rubbing against it as it turned, giving off that wonderful metal on metal sound.

I appreciate the insights!
