It's really very easy to lift the panel off the door -- just go very slowly. The clips that ryan mentioned (at top) are held in place with little teeth. If you use a thin putty knife you can relieve the pressure of the teeth on the door edge. Use the door panel to remove the clips by gently pushing the panel up and working the clips free starting at the door edge. The panel will protect the chrome from damage and everything comes apart easily once it's off the door.
