I just did the Volvo 4 piston calipers on 320 vented rotors. Things look great and one 1/2" SAE washer was sufficient to almost perfectly center the caliper on the rotor. As reported earlier, I had to cut away some of the backing plate to clear the calipers. Again no big deal, 5 minutes with a hacksaw and file.

Now my problem. My stock 13" wheels (circa '72) don't clear, and it looks like about 3/8" off the calipers is required to make the wheels fit. This isn't a huge problem, since I was planning on going to 14" wheels anyway, but what do I do about a spare?? My Scott's soul will support my habit and allow be to buy nice wheels, but one for the spare seems excessive.

Are the '74 series steel wheels larger?? Are there any Opel steel wheels remaining? Any other ideas??

Thanks!!

John N.
