We used the die grinder to get rid of the rust and then got a sheet of aircraft aluminum and bolted the back of it with three bolts and bolted the front of it with the bolts that bolt in the pedal box. Then, you can just put the ball joint studs into the new piece of metal. It looks and works great.

Curtis, I think these "ball joint studs" on my car's accelerator pedal are shot. Do you know if replacements can be bought or fabricated?
