gas tank (archive)

It appears that the gas tank on my '76 02 is leaking somewhere from the top. When I fill up it leaks until I drive off several gallons. Two questions:
1. what's the approximate cost for a replacement tank
2. Is it a hard job to do-it-yourself?
I'm somewhat mechanincally minded by by nomeans a mechanic.
