Thanks for helping!

The car I am considering is being sold by original owner, who brought it over from Frankfort after driving it around Europe for a few weeks. It has been in San Francisco ever since. He has kept service records since 1981. He has taken it in regularly every 4 months for servicing for the past 8 years or so, and the same mechanic has been working on the car for the past 18 years.

Red clean exterior with a couple scratches long scratches and a small dent on the front chrome piece.

Great original interior. FM doesn't work on the original radio and the rubber around the stickshift is torn.

4-speed manual, 2nd engine (since 1988 or so), 162K.

He is asking $3500. Is this a good price? I've never bought an old used car before, what else should I be asking? I'd appreciate the experts' recommendations.

Thanks

Mark
