Maybe my definition of linear is wrong..here is (archive)

what I thought. With my new H&R's all coils are the same in diameter its just that on one end 3 coils are closer together. I saw advertised "progressive springs" and in respect to the last 3 or 4 coils each one was smaller in diameter until you got to the end in which the last coil might be 1/2 the diameter as the mail body of coils. Kinda like a pig-tail. I was slightly surprised to see my springs have 3 coils be close to each other in comparison to the rest of the spring..
