: Converted ignition to Pertonix and everything was fine for about 50 miles of highway driving. Then, I noticed a few flat spots, which progressively got worse. Then the tach started acting erratically and finally it died. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Get rid of the petronix. I had the same problem. It was good at first then finally the plastic grommet that contains the magnets cracked. I was stuck on the side of the freeway, good thing I always carry spare points. Unless they come up with something better to replace those cheap plastic grommets, I would suggest forget it. I went for the MSD set up. A bit more money but reliable.
