I had the same problem recently. I found that the base plate (held together by small rivets) was loose. This allowed the black box to come itn contact with magnetic doughnut. I simply crimped the rivets with a pair of vise grips to tighten them up and re-installed the unit. Hope this helps-Ed74
: Also check that the wires coming out of the distributor haven't moved and are rubbing against the cam. I had this happen, took a little RTV, repositioned the wires so they didn't touch anything and glued the wires inside the rubber block where it comes out of the dizzy. Mine has been working great ever since (about a year.)
