Yes but. Momentum tracks, regardless of length, put a premium on torque over a fair rpm range, especially in traffic. Get out of the gas, 'cause ya gotta not 'cause ya wanta, and its tough to get the rpm back without torque. Witness the Integras vs the 328is cars that run in the touring car series in the US.

I am an autocrosser myself, but the same applies. Get "a little behind on my steering" and have to lift on a momentum part of the course, and that's when the cursing starts, and the wishing that I had more cylinders.
