Hello, I got the car up in the air (rear wheels on ramps and front end perched on 'stands placed under frame rails behind wheels, with 2x4s about 15 inches long between rail and stand to help spread weight). Anyways, now the car is really high (hehe), and I cant really open the hood all the way, so I want to remove it. I wanted to remove it anyway so I can do the A/C kit and put the 38/38 in there, set up the wiring for moving the battery to the trunk, etc. Should I undo the bolts that go through the front behind the grilles, or the ones on the hood itself? What should I do besides the obvious (marking everything) to prepare the hood/hinges/etc. and make it all easier to replace and return to proper alignment? Experienced responses only please?

Shoot some paint over 3 hinge bolts on bottom of hood and let dry or use scribe to make mark around washers under bolt heads.
Place a heavy blanket or pad on roof if you want to put hood on roof.
Remove the nuts on the hinge bolts left and right side at the fenders, do not remove bolts yet. Have assistant hold one side of hood by holding bottom front of hood with one hand and stabilizing the hood with shoulder. Other hand can be used to hold hold open arm from coming out.
Remove 3 bolts on one side and then swap places with assistant. Now brace your shoulder against hood and remove the next 3 bolts, when bolts out, grab hood like your assistant is doing and lift off.
Turn hood upside down and place on roof or lay it on its edge, preferably on piece of wood on floor and let it lay up against a wall.
Also, if you have an air ratchet to remove the hood bolts, it makes it much easier. I have done this by myself but don't recommend it.
