the top four studs hold engine oil, and should be loc-tited on reassembly.....make sure everything is absolutely clean and dry first. this will (usually) prevent unsightly and stinky oil droppings on yer manifold.

as far as the other 4 go, certainly use anti-seize. and you should find that that nut-on-nut method for extraction really does work, even for old, stubborn studs [like us! 8-D. ]
