I have a rebuilt starter for my 84 533i that I would like to put in my 76. I was wondering if anyone had an 02 starter out and could count the teeth for me to ensure a I have a match.

I had an opportunity to measure this against an 02 starter and it appeared to be the same, but I forgot to count teeth.
My 533 starter has 9 teeth.

: I have a better idea......call your local mechanic and ask him if it will work..........duh

A 528i starter will bolt on a 2002, and spins the engine much faster than the '02 starter. I don't know if a 533 starter will work or not. Why not simply remove the starter from your '02 (it's not hard) and compare them side-by side?
