i finally finished tweaking my new purchase today after my failed emissions test last weekend. first i moved the air pump and header from my daily driver to the new car. then i adjusted my 32/36, swapped distributors for one that wasn't as worn out, and made a meager attempt at setting the timing. in addition i also burned off the rest of the old gas in the tank (car hadn't been driven in a year), added some methanol and filled up w/ some nice chevron premium. here's the numbers if anyone's interested:

standard previous today
HC (2350rpm) 700 432 293
(1019rpm) 700 380 194
CO (2350rpm) 6.00 8.41 1.50
(1019rpm) 6.00 6.46 0.41
CO2(2350rpm) n/a 9.1 11.6
(1019rpm) n/a 9.3 13.6

thanks to all that provided input on my quest for cleaner air! - jeff h.
