Upon the majority of everyone's advice at the message board, I decided to get the UUC SS kit.
I got it a few days ago, and began to install it today when low and behold, I think I got parts for an aluminum console install instead of a steel console, because the nylon bearing I received looks like it's for an E30 and the instructions I got was for an aluminum console (which are the same instructions I saw on the UUC website).
Previously, I checked the archives on the installation process and found a post by Tim last February 16, 1999 stating that UUC told him to hacksaw the old top nylon bearing to be able to fit the shifter. And that the retaining clip/circlip, washer, and spring that sits on top of that nylon bearing were not included.
I've been trying to get in touch with UUC by e-mail, but no reply, and I can't contact them at this time because of time difference and it's late Saturday.
What's going on? I know quite a number of pilots have installed the kit, but has anyone experienced the same installation delemma? Does anyone have a solution other than cutting the upper nylon bearing and/or the washer? This install was supposed to be a very quick and painless process, but it's quite the contrary.
TIA.
