Hi there,

Seems like it is alternator month. I just got done putting a 528i alternator in my car last week. The 320 and the 528 alts are internally regulated so you can remove your voltage regulator. There should have been 3 smaller wires in a harness going to your alt and 4 smaller wires going to the regulator. Find the 4th wire that goes to your regulator. It should be kind of light blue. I am pretty damb color blind but I am pretty sure it is blue. Take this wire and attach it to the D+ terminal on your new alternator. The light blue wire goes to the light in your dash to tell you there is a problem.

Good luck,
Drop me a line if you need more clearification,
Mike
