I'm ready to pull my engine, but the dipstick refuses to part from the mother ship. The archives refer to a jamb nut, none is present. They also refer to hose clamps, again none is present.
'72-02, nothing else special about it.
Ideas?? I don't want to munge it and have that site be a source of leaks!
Thanks!

John BMW used 3 systens for the dip sticks 1 used a gland nut on top of a flange, one used a short piece of hose and 2 clamps, the third the tube is a force fit into the block and is not removable normaly. Just wondering why you want it out in the 1st place. Marty.
Thanks for the reply.
Since I'm pulling the block, I'm trying to get most everything that could snag/hang-up, off the engine. I'm also going to need to lug this to the machine shop, and it is one more thing to have to be careful with.
What I'm hearing is that removal of the dipstick tube for me will be a semi-permanent event and removal should be avoided.
Would have made life easier. . .
