I've got a late '72 tii with E-12 head. Recently had 008 tii distributor repaired (replaced broken spring)and recurved to specs, and then installed Pertronix prior to replacing it. Searched the archives for every peice of info on replacing dizzy and timing it (very helpful). Replaced dizzy at TDC on crankshaft pulley mark, #1 cylinder on compressing stroke, etc, etc, and used strobe timing light on the steel ball. The problem is that the ball appears at about 2000rpm (specs say 2700 rmp) and a "Z" appears at 2700 rpm (yes, there's a "Z" inscribed on the fly wheel). Advancing or retarding the dizzy doesn't seem to help much with the figures. The car seems to be running fine, but isn't this a bit weird? Do I have a flywheel that's not for a tii, or am I getting more advance earlier than I should? Or should I even worry about it since the car seems to be running fine?
