yeah, could be both. advance is ccw. go slow. easy increments, a couple degrees at a time. drive up hill in 3rd under heavy load. listen for pinging (too much) or knocking (too little).

Also run at least 89 octane (plus), 92 is better (premium). If it is run on regular then timing must be retarded alot to keep it from pinging and then it just runs bad.
