It depends on which year e21 you get the 5speed from.

I think the earlier ones had a four bolt output flange (like the 02), so you can use your existing driveshaft. The later ones had a three bolt flange, so you will need the driveshaft from the car to cut the flange from to mate to your existing driveshaft.

I'm sure there are other experts out there that know all the details (year models, etc.), as I am not! ;-)


I may be headed towards a conversion in my 76. My current question is... do I use my stock drive shaft or get one with the 5 speed when I get it?

The shop that may be doing part of the work said they would normally cut and rebalance my stock shaft.

I already have book marked all of the usual info web sites.
