All the GC rear springs that I have used on the race car have been ground flat. We do not use any rubber spacers. If a spacer is needed (on some bumpy tracks) we use aluminum spacers or the ones that are removed from the top of the front struts. Once the springs are loaded, they should be fine.

PS. the wire tie idea is a good one, but they usually break after they wear for some time.
