If this is some sort of '67 BMW 2-liter, you probably have the wrong rotor as well. Check to make sure that the rotor doesn't wiggle. The old distributor (I have one from a '66 2-liter) requires a tighter-fitting rotor.

As a present for my brother's Phd completion, I am finishing a resto he started on a 1967 2002. I just put the rear window in this morning and had it running breifly before it quit. I would guess spark since the fuel seemed OK. Not being familiar with these beasts, I checked the distributor cap and was alarmed to find that I could wiggle it about 15 degrees in wither direction, and that there was no "locator" to hold it in a steady position. Is this normal? Or is he missing a part or have the wrong distributor cap on there? He had changed the points and condensor to an :Ignitor" system which I am going to change back due to personal preference. Also Can anyone point me in the direction of a good parts dealer for these cars? I need all of the tune-up stuff.

Thanks,

Jake
