Checked belt tension and cables at batt & ground. Seems o.k. there. Doesn't get discernably different lights on or off, revs up or down.

Many thanks in advance and probably a stupid question but what does 'eom' mean?

Also, check the wire that is covered by a small boot at the rear of your alternator, check it for looseness.
