It's a pretty simple procedure. After you flush the coolant, disconnect all of the hoses connected to the radiator (two of them) unscrew the four bolts holding the radiator in place and pull up. I would replace most of the hoses and clamps while you have the radiator fluid flushed, inspect your water pump, and refill (this might be the wrong order, but it goes something like this) first with clean water, still with the drain plug off, just to get any dirt/grit out of the system, then after putting on the drain plug a 50-50 coolant-H20 mixture will suffice for keeping engine temp low. Also if you have problems pulling off the drain plug, just pull off the lower radiator hose, and coolant will flood everything.

I am going to perform the first mechanical surgery (I know it's very minor)
by changing my old radiator (on a 76) with a brand new one I got a few weeks ago.
Any advice to the novice?

Thank you
