hi folks, i am deep into my labor day weekend work on my 02 and i have come to a very sinking feeling! here's what i've done...took out radiator, fan, water pump, alternator, air conditioner (compressor, etc.), all hoses, AND the hose from the brake booster to the intake manifold. today, i planned to begin reassembly and with the valve cover off decided to set the valve lash...tried to put the car in gear to rotate the engine and noticed the clutch would not work....REALLY light and the "bellows" between the slave cylinder and that arm that comes out of the bell housing only moves a tiny bit when the clutch is pressed...does this make sense because of something that's off the car?? (maybe booster hose? but i don't think so) in any case, please assure me when i turn the car on, clutch ability will resume(or tell me what might fix this problem) THANK YOU PEOPLE SO MUCH IN ADVANCE. I WOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED LONG AGO IF NOT FOR THIS BOARD BECAUSE I NEVER WOULD HAVE MY CAR RUNNING BY MONDAY MORNING!!!leroy, 1974 2002
What you describe that you have done should not have affected the clutch. Perhaps you got air into the system somehow. Do you have enough fluid in the resevoir? If not, you might have gotten air into it and will need to bleed the cyl. This is done similar to the brakes.
