My 76 has a 2 core, but also has the factory fan shroud (your 76 should have this too). I live in VA where it gets pretty hot in the summer and I never have cooling problems. It has to sit in traffic for a long, long time for it to get anywhere near 3/4 on the temp guage. Most of the time, the temp gauge stays below the half way mark.
