Maybe I'm too anal or something but whenever I've got a really involved chore as this I take the time in advance to degrease the area involved. Makes for a much more pleasant experience. I even jack the car up and get under it with degreaser and hose to get it really clean and oil free. Can't do it on the same day or you're be lying in the oil/grease/water/cleaner. But since you enjoy working in the rain maybe its mostly water!

So my newest acquisition ("Otis" the 1970 02) needed a tranny swap among a hundred other things!- the old tranny sounded like nails on a chalkboard as I drove it.

Spent yesterday by myself under the car removing the tranny, driveshaft, exhaust IN THE RAIN! Totally covered from head to toe in grease - totally soaked lying in a puddle...miserable. Had to take a side trip on the way home and got stuck sitting in traffic for an hour all wet....all greasy.

Today:
Woke up at 6:00 am to install newer tranny, driveshaft, clutch, pilot bearing, etc...etc......AGAIN in the RAIN!

Good thing my wife doesn't leave town more often - I'd start to do this stupid *&^%*&it more all the time!

Got the car running - nice quiet trans (did take me THREE tries to install it - on my back under the car)BIG thanks to "Tim from MD" for the motor wiggling!
..I kept knocking the release lever off the bearing - - ARRRGHHH!

....Just thought I'd post this to let you all know there are folks out there more stupid than you think! (ie: ME!)

Now how will I explain all the scratches on my back to the missus?

Just had to vent - I don't know if I should be proud...or ashamed!
