If you're using the 320i diff, you can use the stubs as well. And, well you have to since the 2002 ones won't fit (they are not flush). The catch is that you have to take them apart and install them on the 2002 stubs. It works, I've done it. Be sure to put lots of new grease in them before you reassemble.
