take some liquid hand soap and lather up pretty good. then wipe some of it off, (paper towels) but let most of it just dry on your hands/wrists/even forearms if you plan on doing some real digging. also take a bar of soap and scratch your fingernails over it so it gets up under the fingernails a little bit. so now, you'll have slightly sticky, slippery hands, but they will come clean MUCH easier when it is time to really wash them.

This reminds me of a task my brother Tim and I took upon ourselves about 2 months ago, except we DIDN'T degrease a thing... Renewed the CV boots on my recently departed (read: sold) '83 320i. I wish there was a way to work around all the nasty grease for repacking! Actually, I am a biochemist so the first trip should have been to get the latex gloves...HEH

Had fun anyways, but my fingernails were grimy for a solid WEEK afterward!
