Crane stuff is pretty good. Anything that replaces the old points is an improvement. The canister is part of an evaporative system. Many people pull them out. Mine's still in. I don't think they need much attention. The electricat plug on the bottom of the manifold is part of the emissions system. No prob if it is not hooked up as the rest of that stuff is disabled. Hope to help. Have a nice day.

As I get familiar with my new car I have a few more Qs. My stock engine with Weber 32/36 and no emissions stuff has a CraneCams XR700 electronic ignition. Is this good quality or should I be worried? What is the canister behind the battery that has holes on one side and is connected to a line to the gas tank. It appears original. Should it be replaced (175K miles)? The intake manifold has an electrical connection on the bottom that is not connected to anything. Should it be? Thanks.
