The synchronization of the injection pump and the throttle is a must, but unless someone has messed with the mechanical linkage or the linkage joints are real sloppy your proplem is probably your ingnition. Check your condenser and it's ground, also check wires, plugs. Check the coil it should be a red bosch w/ external resistor. If the blue coil with it's internal resistor is used with the external resistor in place it will not provide enought spark under high load, (mountain passes!) Try replacing the points with a electronic type this will eliminate the condenser. Synchronization of injection pump and throttle is best left to someone with a good ear and experience. I have used an O2 sensor but only to check the orignal setting that was done ear. Orignal owner of a 72'tii.
