Sorry to hear things didn't work out. But, yeah, it's a pretty involved process. Best left to a qualified mechanic unless you're an expert wrench-wielder or have done a rebuild before. Usually, you don't need new pistons unless you bore over a certain amount; pistons are very durable. More suspect would be your rings and valvetrain (valves, guides, and seals). BTW, if your head has a record of previous crack repair by welding, this is good chance to chuck it. (Mine is like this, I'd never trust it again, even if rebuilt.) If you have a 121 head, it should cost about $450-500 for a completely rebuilt head, twice that amount if you have an E12. For a high-performance rebuild, you may consider patronizing the establishment below. Anyone hear anything about them, good or bad? Thanks.
