okay, thank you dwight h. i had not gotten around to slackening the hand brake so when i did that things were much better but still pretty tight. the wheels would turn by hand but there was definitely some binding no matter where i put the shoe adjusters. so i did the best i could adjusted the hand brake, adjusted the shoes, bled the system and took it for a ride. test drive was good but later when i went fora long drive home, i started to really smell the burnt linings. i pulled over and noticed that the rear wheels/drums were really, really hot. i didn't know what to do but kept going so i didn't smell anymore and when i finally reached home the wheels were cool and no more smells. so my guess is that there were some serious "high spots" on my new shoes that are now dust on the bottom of the inside of the drum. readjustment of the shoes will occur within the week. this sound right/good?? i think it's all gonna be okay now.
