I had these for the old door speakers, but they sold for 6X9 too. It is an enclosure that you sink btwn speaker and mounting surface. Made of plastic. Last time I saw them it was with the auto stereo stuff at Wal Mart.

Check out the following post. This is exactly what I did. 6x9s mounted under the back dash--I cut holes with a jigsaw, measured in far enough that I could leave the expansion tank in place. I bought a couple of yards of speaker cloth from a local stereo shop, removed the vinyl from the hat tray, cut matching holes and recovered the whole thing with the speaker cloth. Very stealth! Can't tell there are speakers there unless you look hard in direct sunlight. Also, the new cloth looks alot better that the faded blue vinyl.

About 6x9s: They give good bass, but it is sloppy. I think a better setup would be to build and mount a box around them to tighten up the low end. Or, mount 6 1/2" rounds with a bass tube in the trunk. That should give nice tight bass. I am powering them with a early 90's vintage Blaupunkt--7.5 watts/channel. It sounds really good--for now. An amp is definitely going in some time in the future.

Good luck,

Peter
