I haven't had a chance to pull everything about yet, but would like to get a few responses. My car will not shift into gears, and is IN gear when the gear shift is in "neutral." In other words, If you put the gear shift in neutral and let the clutch out, the car dies.

This doesn't seem that it would be a clutch/pressureplate problem, but maybe the throw-out bearing?

Everything visually looks fine. No tranny leaks, driveshaft good, guibo, diff, no holes in trans (happened to a friend in his mustang 2 days ago), slave cyl looks good, lots of fluid...

*any* comments are appreciated. thanks!

that doesn't move. even in neutral. =(

Does the gearshift lever give any resistance when trying to shift or does it just flop around? If it is flopping around and feels as if it is not "hooked up", it probably isn't. Get under the car and check the shift rod connection. There is a spring retaining ring around the connection with a pin connecting the shift rod to the linkage rod. If the pin fell out this could be your problem.
