Trent,
If the tranny jammed while you were banging a quick 2-3 upshift, it's possible that a shift fork broke or came free of the selector rod. This would prevent the tranny from being pulled out of second before third was engaged. The symptom would be sudden locked rear wheels and stalled engine. Since the tranny is unusable as it is, you have nothing to lose by taking it apart. You may be able to fix it, and if not, at least you'll know how it goes together. The Haynes 320i manual has a fairly detailed description of how to disassemble and reassemble this tranny. Good Luck
